Men's Soccer Closes Out Regular Season with 3-1 Win over Stockton; Clinches #2 Seed in NJAC Championship

Troiano scores twice as Profs win fourth in a row and earn first-round bye

GLASSBORO, NJ – Johnny Troiano scored two goals to lead Rowan to a 3-1 win over rival Stockton in NJAC men's soccer action on Senior Night and the regular-season finale. The win gives the Profs a 6-2-1 conference record and the number-two seed in the NJAC Championship. The Profs have a first-round bye and will host the winner of Kean vs. Rutgers-Camden in the NJAC Semifinals on November 1 at 6 p.m.

Rowan honored seniors Luke Yates and Sergio Sola Garcia at halftime of the game as the Profs improve to 8-3-5 overall. 
 
Emiliano Pavia set up the Profs' first goal on a throw-in when he took the ball to end line and crossed it to a wide-open Troiano near the left post, who headed it in at 14:02, as Rowan held a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Troiano scored again in the second half on a free kick from 25 yards out on the left side made it into the net untouched at 47:54, giving him a team-high 15 goals this year.
 
Less than two minutes later, Sola Garcia carried it into the right side of the box and sent a blast into the left corner of the net.
 
Stockton ended Rowan's shutout bid when a foul was committed in the box and Jake Homowitz converted the penalty kick in the 67th minute.
 
Dylan Aportela made two saves on the evening to record his eighth win of the year as the Ospreys outshot the Profs, 12-11. 
 
The victory extends Rowan's winning streak to four while it is unbeaten in the last five matches.
