Adams, Marshall Pace Women's Basketball's 71-64 Overtime Win at William Paterson

WAYNE, NJ – Grace Marshall scored 17 points and Dakota Adams added 13 as the Rowan women's basketball team got past William Paterson, 71-64, in overtime in NJAC action today. Adams scored six points in the extra period, as did Nicole Mallard as the Profs improved to 11-7 (7-4 NJAC).
 
Adams finished with a double-double as she grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds and Eliana Santana contributed 10 points for the Profs as she shot 5-of-8 from the field. Nicole Mallard tied her career-high with 11 rebounds and Danielle McCurdy had 10 as Rowan dominated the boards, 64-49.
 
In a game that featured nine ties and 10 lead changes, it came down to the wire in the final minutes of regulation. Tied 55-55 with under three minutes left, Kate Herlihy put the Profs up, 57-55, with a layup at 1:40 but William Paterson sent it to overtie on a bucket by Brianna Smith with :31 remaining.
 
Mallard scored four straight points in the overtime to give Rowan a 63-60 lead with 2:23 remaining and went up, 65-62, on a jumper from Adams. After WPU pulled within, 65-64, with 50 seconds to go, Adams again connected and increased the Rowan lead to 67-64. Marshall hit two free throws at :16 and Adams added two more at :06 to seal the road win for the Profs.
 
After a first quarter that was tied, 15-15, Rowan outscored the Pioneers, 12-2, in the third quarter to own a 27-17 halftime lead. William Paterson turned the tide in the third quarter by connecting on 4-of-6 threes and outscoring Rowan, 27-11.
 
WPU owned a 46-38 lead at the start of the fourth, but Rowan fought back despite trailing by as much as 10 points. Adams and Marshall combined to put together an 8-0 run to tie the score at 55-55.
 
The Profs return home on Wednesday, January 25 and will host TCNJ at 5:30 p.m.
