GLASSBORO, NJ -- A first-half goal from
Jillian Jankowski and a shutout from goalie
Calista Burke helped give Rowan a 1-0 win over Farmingdale State on Sunday for the Profs' first victory on the year.
Jankowski netted the lone tally in 27th minute after she picked up a blocked shot in the goal mouth and was able to slip one through traffic and under Ram goalie Chloe Kensell for a one-goal lead. Rookie
Ava Morales picked up the assist. The goal was Jankowski's third career tally.
The offense put up nine shots in the first half and ramped it up in the second, firing off 12. Farmingdale State totaled three shots in each respective half.
Later in the second, the Profs were awarded a penalty kick after
Nina Carlson was taken down in the box. However, Kensell kept it a one-goal game with her save off of an attempt from
Emma DeMaise.
Kensell finished the day with eight stops, including six in the final 45 minutes. For Burke, the sophomore notched her second career shutout.
Rowan returns to action on Wednesday when Manahattanville visits Glassboro in a 5:30 start.
