GLASSBORO, NJ –

Kristiina Castagnola and
Liz Fox provided the goals as #2 Rowan shut out Alvernia, 3-0, in non-conference field hockey action this evening. The Profs remain unbeaten at 9-0 with the victory.
After a scoreless first quarter, DiDonato tallied the game's opening goal, set up by a shot from
Julia Patrone. DiDonato collected the rebound off the save, and put it into the left side of the cage for her third goal of the year.
The Profs earned a penalty stroke in the third quarter, and Castagnola put one in for the second time this year, and her seventh goal of the year, at 37:32.
Liz Fox scored the insurance goal just one minute later for when Castagnola sent a 15-yard pass to the left post, and the senior tapped it in for her first goal of the season.
Abby Hainsworth made one save to earn her second shutout as Rowan held a 15-2 advantage in shots over Alvernia (6-3).
The Profs open the defense of their NJAC title when they host TCNJ in the conference opener on Saturday at 1 p.m.
