GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan opened the 2022 season on Friday against Lynchburg as the two teams battled to a 1-1 tie.
A late goal from the Hornets knotted the contest up and with the new NCAA rule this year with no regular-season overtime, the contest ended in a stalemate after 90 minutes.
The Profs did strike first as freshman 
Olivia Giordano netted her first collegiate goal in the 14th minute as she put back a rebound off her first attempt to make it a 1-0 game.
Goalie 
Calista Burke notched five saves in the contest, four of which came in the second half. The Hornets fired off eight shots after the halftime but used a late tally from Ida Swisher with just 3:51 in regulation.
Burke then made a big stop minutes later to keep things knotted at 1-1.
Lynchbug keeper Jade Lecklider recorded two saves. Giordano had three of the Profs' six shots on the evening.
Rowan is right back at it here at home on Sunday when the Profs welcome Framingham State in a 1 p.m. start.
