GENEVA, OHIO -- Rowan got things off to a great start at the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday, producing four All-Americans and finalists in two other events. The Profs sit in first place after the first day of action with 19 team points.
UPDATED RESULTS
In the long jump,
Ahmir Johnson was runner-up hitting a PR mark of 7.56 meters while
Nana Agyemang took fifth with a top mark of 7.30 meters. This is Johnson's second All-American honor and first in the long jump. Agyemang was tenth in this event a year ago.
The javelin featured two place-winnners in the top eight, and one who just missed All-American status.
Greg Poloso was third in the event (65.93) with
Dan McAleavey in eighth (63.06m). Rookie
Lane Owens was ninth (61.90m) with
Edgar Rosa in 11th (61.69m) and
Julio Lebron in 20th (43.14m).
Jah'mere Beasley hit 20.91 in 200 meter preliminaries, good enough for fifth place and more importantly a spot in the finals, which includes the top eight times in the prelims, that takes place on Saturday at 2:50 p.m.
John Owens was set for the 400 meter hurdles final after clocking in a 52.68 in the preliminaries which also set another PR, but was disqualified after a violation was discovered upon review.
Treshan Stevenson was 16th on Thursday in the event as well, stopping the clock at 53.78.
Agyemang, Beasley,
Marquise Young, and
Amara Conte were fifth in the 4x400 relay (3:13.44) and will move on to the finals on Saturday at 4 p.m.
