NEWARK, NJ –
Dakota Adams had 13 points and 13 rebounds and
Nicole Mallard added 11 points as the Rowan women's basketball team cruised to a 73-47 win at Rutgers-Newark in NJAC play. The win is the third straight for the Profs as they improved to 14-7 on the year, and 12-3 in the league.
Adams shot 6-for-12 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds, while notching her seventh double-double of the season.
Kate Herlihy scored 10 points and
Eliana Santana also had 10 rebounds for the Profs, who held an impressive 61-41 margin on the boards.
Rowan dominated from the start, running up a 19-1 lead in the first quarter, as Mallard had seven points in the first 10 minutes.
The Profs pushed the lead to over 20 as they went up 23-1 at the start of the second quarter. Rutgers-Newark (4-15; 1-12) went scoreless for six minutes over both quarters until the Scarlet Raiders got their third point of the game at 8:18 of the second period. Four straight points from
Sam Rinaldi increased the lead to 30-7 and at the end of the half, Rowan was in charge, 33-14.
Leading 37-18,
Reagan Russo converted a three-point play and
Savanna Holt made two free throws in a 7-0 run. A three-pointer by Holt increased the lead to 49-22, and by the end of the third quarter, Rowan led 51-32.
The Profs finished with a 22-point fourth quarter and took their biggest lead of the game, 67-39, with four minutes to play.
Rowan heads to NJCU on Wednesday, February 9 for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
