Mallard Hits for Career-High 27 to Help Women's Basketball Defeat Stockton, 87-54, in NJAC Quarterfinals

Profs advance to host semifinals on Thursday vs. NJCU at 5:30 p.m.

GLASSBORO, NJ - Nicole Mallard scored a career-high 27 points to lead second-seeded Rowan to an 87-54 win over seventh-seeded Stockton in the Quarterfinals of the NJAC Women's Basketball Tournament at Esby Gym. The Profs (17-8) move on to host a semifinal matchup on Thursday, February 24 against NJCU at 5:30 p.m. in Esby Gym. 
 
Mallard hit 10-of-14 from the field and made 3-of-5 three-pointers, while grabbing a team-high four steals. Grace Marshall scored 13 points and handed out six assists with Eliana Santana adding 11 points. Dakota Adams recorded her 11th double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Rowan was in charge from the start and led throughout most of the first quarter, holding a 24-21 lead at the end of the period as it shot 53 percent from the field. The Profs used a seven-point burst to start the second quarter, with five points from Jazlyn Duverglas, to build up a 10-point lead, 31-21. Rowan expanded it to 36-23 after a three-pointer by Mallard at 6:03, but Stockton scored six in a row to cut the deficit to 36-29. The Profs then answered with an 11-3 run to close out the quarter, helped by six points from Marshall, as Rowan took a 64-46 lead into halftime.
 
The Profs kept it going in the third quarter, opening the period with a 10-2 run to go up by 57-36, and held a comfortable 20-point margin throughout.
 
In the fourth, Rowan opened with a three by Mallard, for her 20th point of the night. With under five minutes to go, Santana started an 11-0 run, and scored four points, to put the game out of reach, 84-52. The Profs converted 9-of-13 from the field in that final period.
 
Stockton, which ends its season at 11-15, received a 27-point performance from Madison LaRosa.
 
The Profs advance to the NJAC Semifinals for the sixth consecutive season and will host sixth-seeded NJCU, which defeated Montclair State, 68-67, on a last-second shot in the quarterfinals.
