EWING, NJ –
Marcellus Ross scored 19 points and
Josh Wright scored a season-high 18 off the bench to lead Rowan to an 87-82 win over TCNJ on the road, to improve to 2-0 in the NJAC, and 3-2 overall with the team's third straight win.
Ross hit 9-of-12 from the foul line and grabbed five rebounds while Wright connected on 5-of-7 from three-point range.
Ja'Zere Noel added 10 points as did
Stretch Hawkins on 5-for-7 shooting off the bench.
The Profs fought back from a 55-51 deficit midway through the second half, with a pair of free throws from Ross and six straight points from
Ja'Zere Noel to take a 62-58 lead. Rowan added five more, including a three-pointer from Ross to take a 67-58 lead with 7:36 to play.
Rowan built he lead up to 11 points, 71-60, after a pair of free throws from
Damian Smith. TCNJ cut the deficit to single digits, but the Profs sealed the win when Ross hit two from the line at :37, giving the visitors an 82-75 lead.
TCNJ led by as much as seven points in the first half, but Rowan used an 11-0 run with three consecutive three-pointers from Wright to take an 18-11 lead. Although TCNJ regained the lead, Rowan took a 33-31 lead into the lockerroom at halftime, thanks to a three by Wright.
Rowan returns home to face William Paterson on Saturday, December 3 in an NJAC doubleheader with the women's team. The Profs will face the Pioneers at 3 p.m. on Military Appreciation Day.
