HUNTINGDON, PA -- Rowan bowed out of the 2022 NCAA Tournament as the Profs fell, 3-0, to Cortland in a first-round matchup Thursday evening. Set scores were 26-24, 25-22, and 25-11. The match took place at Juniata.
Setter
Brooke Adams put together a double double (22 assists/12 digs) while adding three block assists.
Natalie Ogden had eight of the team's 26 kills as the Profs as a team hit .031 for the match.
A battle of scoring runs in the first set yielded nine ties and seven lead changes. Rowan put together a 9-0 stretch to lead 20-15 and would be on the verge of a 1-0 lead, as a kill from
Sydni Greenwood made it a 24-23 score. Unfortunately, the Red Dragons scored the next three points to win it, 26-24.
The second set saw the Profs net four points in a row early on to lead, 13-8. Cortland then used a 10-2 run to jump ahead where Rowan tried to climb back in it. Down 24-19, the Profs clawed to 24-22 but could not gain any more ground. In the third set, Cortland ran out to a 10-2 advantage and later a 15-4 score to help secure the final result.
Cortland's Zoe Staats led all attackers with 14 kills with teammate Giovanna Rossi adding 12. The Red Dragons put together a 43-18-116 (.216) hitting line.
