GLASSBORO, NJ – Paced by three goals from Julia Patrone and two from Kristiina Castagnola, #2 Rowan jumped out to a 5-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back, as the Profs defeated William Paterson, 8-1, in NJAC field hockey action. Rowan runs its record to 12-0 and 3-0 in the conference.

It marked Patrone's third hat trick of the season, and the sixth in two seasons, while Castagnola recorded the 17th multiple-goal game of her career.

Castagnola wasted no time, scoring the opening goal just 53 seconds into the game, on a backhander right inside the circle. Patrone followed with a similar shot from close range three minutes later before Castagnola netted another turnaround shot from 15 yards out at 10:23.

Patrone tallied the final two goals of the quarter, with a pair of chip shots, just three minutes apart.

Julia Cavicchio got into the scoring column with the lone goal of the second quarter, as she deflected a shot high into the net at 13:47 to give Rowan a 6-0 lead.

William Paterson (1-5; 0-2) netted its only goal, by Heather Stauffacher, with 3:53 remaining in the third quarter.

Rachel Stone deflected in a pass from Bridget Guinan at 49:08, and Cienna Bosher did the same with a pass from Cavicchio at 59:53 to round out the scoring for the Profs.

Rowan dominated with a 24-3 edge in shots, forcing WPU's Kourtney Hartzel to make 11 saves. Abby Hainsworth and Aida Ingram each played a half in the cage for Rowan, making one save apiece.

The Profs head on the road for a pair of games this week, at Widener on Wednesday and at #6 Kean on Saturday.
