Castagnola and Stone each add a goal

UNION, NJ – Freshman Tess Herman scored a pair of goals to lead #2 Rowan over #8 Kean, 4-1, in Top 10 field hockey action today as the Profs run their record to 14-0, and 4-0 in the NJAC.

Kristiina Castagnola and Rachel Stone added a goal apiece to help cement the victory, while goalkeeper Abby Hainsworth made 10 saves for Rowan.

Herman scored first at 21:21 as she dribbled in and beat Kean goalkeeper Jenna Flemings, for her fourth goal of the season.

Castagnola posted her 14th goal of the year after she took a pass from Bridget Guinan in the circle and put it away at 39:35. Herman built the lead up to 3-0 less than a minute later as she again tallied an unassisted goal, dribbling and beating Flemings to the right.

Kean (11-3; 1-2 NJAC) scored its lone goal of the game at 51:49 but Rowan added its final goal just minutes later when Rachel Stone took a pass from Vanessa DiDonato and the senior scored from close range.

Rowan held a decisive 30-16 advantage in shots, with Hainsworth posting double-digits in saves for the third time this season. Kean's Fleming was forced to make 15 saves on the day.

The Profs will play their second Top 10 opponent in a row when they host #3 Salisbury on Wednesday night at Coach Wackar Stadium.
