WASHINGTON, DC –
Kristiina Castagnola and
Krystyna Hovell scored two goals each to lift #9 Rowan to a 5-1 win over Catholic (0-2) in field hockey action, to up the Profs' record to 2-0.
Rowan jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second quarter as Castagnola scored her first goal of the year. Hovell connected on a corner, with the assist from
Julia Cavicchio at 17:08 and less than four minutes later, scored off a rebound for her fourth goal of the season.
Catholic got on the board in the third quarter before Rowan's
Liz Fox took a through ball from
Bridget Guinan and put it in the back post. Castagnola then closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal at 55:55.
Rowan outshot the home team, 18-3, and Prof goalie
Aida Ingram made two saves to earn the win.
The Profs return to action at home on September 11 when they host Johns Hopkins at 6 p.m.
