Jay Vandermark scored the game's lone goal in the first half to lift #15 Rowan men's soccer to a 1-0 win over New Paltz in the Drew Fall Festival, in the season opener for both teams.
Wilby Alfred sent a cross into the box from the right and Vandermark tapped it in on the left side at 28:12.
Rowan outshot New Paltz, 9-6, and Rowan goalkeeper
James Weinberg made five saves on the day to register the seventh shutout of his career.
The Profs will be back in action on Sunday when they play in the championship game at 6:30 p.m. against either Drew or FDU-Florham.
