Women's Lacrosse Rally Falls Short in 13-10 Loss to Montclair State

GLASSBORO, NJ - Montclair State stopped a Rowan comeback, scoring two late goals to secure a 13-10 win in the NJAC women's lacrosse regular-season finale at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium.
 
Ashley Lechliter had a team-high four goals for the Profs, which gives her a total of 17 goals in the last three games. Julianna Corson scored two for Rowan while Elise Cohan and Julia Grlica each contributed a goal and two assists and Shannen Sterner had a goal and an assist. 
 
Trailing 10-5 early in the second half, Corson scored two straight for Rowan, with the first assisted by Dara Hennessy, followed by another from Lechliter to cut the deficit to 10-8 with 10:01 remaining. 
 
Montclair State (7-0; 5-0 NJAC) answered with one at 9:23 by Rhiannon Brown to go up, 11-8, but Shannen Sterner kept the Profs alive with her goal assisted by Grlica at 7:15, pulling Rowan within two goals, 11-9. 
 
The Red Hawks answered with a pair of goals two minutes apart, increasing the lead to 13-9 on a goal by Meghan Mahlstadt with 3:03 remaining to secure the win. Rowan got one more from Lechliter at 1:39 to provide the final margin. 
 
Rowan opened the game taking a 3-0 lead on goals by Cohan, Lechliter and Jamie Cutrera, but Montclair State scored six straight goals until Grlica tallied one at 3:47 to break the streak. The Red Hawks then added two more before halftime to own an 8-4 advantage. 
 
Montclair State continued the scoring at the start of the second half posting a quick goal before Lechliter netted one on a man-up goal, with the assist from Grlica to pull the Profs within 9-5. 
 
Reilly Shaup made eight saves in goal for Rowan and Gianna Rusk had a team-high five ground balls with Grlica picking up four.
