NORTHAMPTON, MA – Rowan suffered a 70-55 setback to host Smith on Sunday in the Tyler Tip Off.
Grace Marshall was selected to the all-tournament team for the Profs as the senior filled out the stat sheet with eight points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Dakota Adams went for 13 points and five boards.
Katelyn Pickunka led all scorers with 20 points for the Pioneers. She was one three starters in double figures: Jessi Rufner (13) and Ally Yamada (11).
Smith hit eight of its 12 three-pointers in the second half and outscored the Profs, 24-21 in the fourth quarter. The Profs led 29-27 at the break thanks to limiting the Pioneers to just five points and had a hand in 11 Smith turnovers.
Ruffner's three with 8:17 in the game gave Smith the lead, 49-48, and started a 14-0 run for the home team and Rowan in a double-digit deficit.
The Profs return home to Esbjornson Gymnasium for the first time since February 28, 2019 this Wednesday night to welcome Widener in a 8 p.m. tip.
