Women's Soccer Prevails Over William Paterson, 2-1; Logan Nets Late Goal In Win

GLASSBORO, N.J. -- Jessica Logan's goal with just over 10 minutes in regulation helped lift Rowan to a 2-1 victory over William Paterson on Saturday in a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup.

Jillian Jankowski also scored for the Profs as the team improves to 4-1 in NJAC play.

Thanks to brilliant saves from Rowan goalie Bristol Pizzuto and Pioneer keeper Erica Hickey in the first half, the teams were in a scoreless tie at the break. Pizzuto made a diving stop on William Paterson's lone attempt in the 24th minute while Hickey was able to make a leaping grab late in the stanza.

In the 62nd minute, Jankowski made it 1-0 on her second goal of the season. She was able to get around a defender on the right endline and find a shooting lane from a difficult angle with her left foot to get the home team on the board. The Pioneers countered less than three minutes later when Julia Fiorito put a ball on net from the left side of the box that found its way to the far post and past Pizzuto.

Both teams logged a combined total of 13 shots in the second half before the Profs were able to set the stage for the game winner. A foul from William Paterson was spotted inches outside the left side of the box. Kelsi Stangl sent the free kick into traffic in front of the net where Logan got a foot on it to redirect it past Hickey. The goal was the first on the season.

Pizzuto finished with four saves while Hickey recorded six.

Rowan travels to Stockton on Wednesday for a conference showdown beginning at 7 p.m.
