Kicker Jake Hurler tied the school record for field goals made with four in the contest and quarterback Mike Husni was 14-for-22 passing for 212 yards and one touchdown, while he ran for another.

The Rowan defense limited William Paterson (3-4; 1-2 NJAC) to its lowest point total of the year, led by 12 tackles and one interception from linebacker Mike Mascioli, and two interceptions from safety Malachi Winters. Jared Wright also added an interception while AJ Akins had nine tackles and 1.5 sacks.

With 4:50 left in the second quarter, Maldonado made a highlight-film catch on the sideline in between two William Paterson defenders and ran the rest of the way in untouched for a 69-yard touchdown to give the Profs a 12-7 lead they would not relinquish.

Husni added to the lead, 19-7, on a six-yard run with 12:17 to play in the third quarter, before William Paterson's Ronald Alvarez connected on a 36-yard field goal at the end of the quarter to close the gap to 19-10.

Hurler finished out a fourth-quarter drive with a 38-yarder, the field goal that tied the school record set by Tyler Knighton in 2014, also against William Paterson.

The Profs opened the game with a 47-yard pass play to Maldonado on their first play from scrimmage, with the drive resulting in a 24-yard field goal by Hurler.

William Paterson went ahead, 7-3, later in the quarter on a 5-yard run by Marcel Mason to cap a 13-play, 90-yard drive.

The interception by Wright set up Rowan's next score as the drive ended with a Hurler field goal from 24 yards out to cut the deficit to 7-6 with 11:03 left in the second quarter.

Rowan heads to Montclair State next Saturday, October 30.
