SALISBURY, MD – The 6th-ranked Rowan field hockey team rallied for a 3-2 win over #17 Salisbury as
Rachel Stone scored the tying goal and
Julia Patrone had the gamewinner. The Profs' winning streak is extended to 10 games with the victory as they improve to 12-2 on the year.
Trailing 2-1, Stone scored off a pass from
Kristiina Castagnola at 51:28 to tie the game. Then just six minutes later, Patrone netted the winning goal, for her fifth gamewinner of the year.
The Profs took the early lead as Castagnola tallied her team-high 14th goal of the season at 8:31 into the contest.
Salisbury (9-6) answered back with one by McKenzie Mitchell at 12:18 as the teams went into halftime tied at 1-1.
The Sea Gulls, which had two goals on three shots, pushed ahead at 42:09 on a goal by Jordan Brooks before the Profs were able mount their comeback.
Rowan held a 15-3 advantage in shots and a 10-6 edge in penalty corners.
Although the Profs saw their six-game shutout streak come to an end, goalkeeper
Abby Hainsworth made one save on the evening to earn the win.
The Profs will play their final regular-season home game on Wednesday, October 27, against Elizabethtown in "Senior Day". Rowan has clinched the top seed in the NJAC Championship and will finish out the conference slate on October 29 at William Paterson.
