Patrone Nets a Hat Trick as #6 Field Hockey Rolls Over Elizabethtown, 7-1, on Senior Night

Castagnola Passes the 100-Point Mark; Seniors DeVincentz and Gorczyca Also Contribute to Scoring

GLASSBORO, NJ – Freshman Julia Patrone recorded her third hat trick of the season as the sixth-ranked Rowan field hockey team routed Elizabethtown, 7-1, while each of the seniors had a hand in the scoring on "Senior Night". Senior Kristiina Castagnola had one goal and one assist as she surpassed 100 points for her career in the final regular season home game.

The win is Rowan's 11th in a row improving the Profs to 13-2 on the year.

Castagnola became the 10th player in the program's history to reach the 100-point mark, joining teammate Krystyna Hovell on the list as she achieved it two weeks ago.

Senior Dayna DeVincentz also added a goal, as did Bridget Guinan and Alyssa Magliaro. Senior Molly Gorczyca had one of the assists in the victory.

The Profs got the scoring going in the first quarter when Guinan scored off a corner, with the feed from Hovell.

Patrone then scored two in the second quarter, with the second goal coming after Kylie Taylor picked up a steal and fed it to the freshman in front of the net.

Elizabethtown opened the second half sneaking a goal past Rowan keeper Abby Hainsworth at 34:38, but Patrone answered with her third at 39:00 to give the Profs a 4-1 lead.

Castagnola etched her name in the record book with her 15th goal of the year after she followed in her own rebound at 40:55. Classmates DeVincentz and Gorczyca teamed up for a goal at 45:00, with DeVincentz scoring to push the Profs' lead to 6-1. Magliaro closed out the scoring at 55:09 after she converted a pass from Castagnola.

Rowan, the top seed in next week's NJAC Championship, will close out the regular season on Friday at William Paterson.
