COLLEGEVILLE, PA. -- Rowan had its 11-game win streak come to an end but the Profs earned a win to split a tri-match at Ursinus on Saturday. The Profs fell to Dickinson, 3-1, and rebounded with a 3-0 sweep of the host Bears.
The Profs tried to rally from a two-set deficit in falling to the Red Devils, 12-25, 20-25, 25-16, and 20-25.
The duo of
Natalie Ogden and
Brianna Newson totaled 24 of the team's 43 kills while setter
Brooke Adams was a dig shy of a double-double (35 assists/nine digs).
Rowan struggled through a -.150 hitting percentage in the first set en route to a 16-5 run to close out the stanza. The team bounced back in the second set, as the Profs pulled within one midway through the set thanks to four-straight points. However, the team could not jump ahead in falling behind, 2-0. The third set saw Rowan total 13 kills, with eight coming from Odgen and Newson total as a big 13-2 rally kept the match going. The Red Devils used a late push of their own, getting four points in a row to get it to match point.
The second match had the squad nab a 3-0 sweep of the hosts. Newson led the Profs with 10 kills,
Isabel Kirchner and Odgen each added eight.
Courtney Rhoden added four kills and three blocks (two solo).
After taking the first, Ursinus tried to use a late 7-1 push to get within one (23-22) in the second, but Rowan would prevail. The Profs faught through six ties and three lead changes to lock things up, in big part to a 6-1 run, erasing a 20-19 deficit.
The team returns home for NJAC action on Tuesday, October 19th when they square off with Ramapo.
