GLASSBORO, NJ - The #23 Rowan baseball team (5-0) swept a doubleheader against St. Lawrence (0-2) in its home opener on Sunday, winning the first game, 13-0, and taking the second,15-6, to increase the season-opening winning streak to five games.

In the first game, the Profs were able to strike first with a run in the third inning and never looked back, adding nine runs in the fourth inning. Shortstop
Nick Schooley paced the Rowan offense by leading the team with three RBI thanks to a bases-clearing double in the fourth with designated hitter
Michael Manganella adding a two-run double.

Righthander
Donald Zellman struck out four batters over five scoreless innings to earn the win (1-0), giving up just three hits to keep St. Lawrence in check. Freshman
Eli Atiya pitched the final four innings while only giving up one hit and striking out six to pick up the save. St. Lawrence's Patrick Greenan gave up six runs in three innings and suffered the loss (0-1).

In the night cap, Rowan's bats remained hot, as the Profs posted eight runs in the first inning. They were able to bat around the lineup twice in the first two innings, which led to a 14-0 lead by the end of the second. Second baseman
Alex Kokos had three hits, four RBI and two runs scored in those two innings, while
Ryan McIsaac had two hits and three RBI to contribute to the 14-0 lead.

Kokos finished the game going 3-for-4 with two runs and four RBI, while McIsaac was 2-for-3 with three runs and four RBI. Five players managed to reach base safely multiple times, including third baseman
Victor Cruz and catcher
Bauer Fichter, as the Profs scored 15 runs on 11 hits.

Righthander
Thomas Sullivan recorded five strikeouts over 3 2/3 innings as the starter for the Profs with
Mike Shannon earning the win (1-0) after striking out two batters over 1 1/3 innings. St. Lawrence starting pitcher Andrew Matthews suffered the loss (0-1) by giving up eight earned runs and failing to make it out of the first inning.Â

Jake Delaney drove in two runs and scored two for the Saints in the second-game loss.

The Profs (5-0) head to Spring Break and will participate in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational for 10 games from March 12 to 21.
