Caldwell Scores A Career-High 18 Points In Women's Basketball's 78-63 Win

NEWARK, NJ – The Rowan University women's basketball team had four players that scored in double figures en route to a 78-63 win at Rutgers-Newark.
 
Guard Paige Caldwell recorded a game and career-high 18 points.  She also grabbed seven rebounds.  Guards Alexis Kriley and Savanna Holt each chipped in with 13 points.  Guard Nicole Mallard added 11 points and produced a career-mark with eight steals.  Center Ayanna Johnson totaled 13 rebounds and three blocks.
 
The Profs are 15-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference  for first place and 21-3 overall.  The Scarlet Raiders have a 4-20 record with a 2-15 conference mark.
 
Forward Hannah Ashby led Rutgers-Newark with 17 points and seven boards  Guard Samiyah Horton contributed with 15 points and guard Brielle Mattiello followed with 13.  Guard Louise Ann Borja scored 10 points.  Guard Elisah India Cross collected seven rebounds and had six points.
 
Rowan was ahead 22-16 after the first quarter and outscored Rutgers-Newark, 18-5 in the second to lead 40-21 at the half.  Horton hit a three at 5:59 and the Scarlet Raiders trailed by eight (27-19).  The Profs answered with a 13-2 surge to end the period.  Guard Kennedy Brown led the way with four points while guard Carleigh Burns and Caldwell had three apiece.  Mallard made two points and Johnson followed with one.  Caldwell was the leader in the first half with 16 points.
 
Rowan had a 30 point advantage (61-31) going into the fourth quarter.  With 5:32 remaining, the Profs were ahead 46-31 then they scored 15 straight points.  Kriley and Holt both contributed with six points.  Holt led the team with 10 points in the second half.  Mattiello and Horton each scored 11 points and Ashby had 10.
