Box Score 2 GLASSBORO, NJ - The Rowan University volleyball team won two matches at the Rowan Profs Invitational at Esby Gym, defeating Widener, 3-0, and Ursinus, 3-1.
The Profs, now 4-1 on the season, opened the evening with a 3-0 win over Widener.
Kailey Gallagher (sr., Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) had 11 kills and hit .450 in the match, while
Megan Jacobi (sr., Brick, NJ/Nazareth Area) also added 11 kills.
Simone Sparano (fr., Phoenixville, PA/Pope John Paul II) had 16 digs and
Natalie Ogden (so., Downingtown, PA/Bishop Shanahan) added 13 digs in the win while
Tori Mock (jr., Chadds Ford, PA/Archmere Academy) set up 19 assists for the Profs.
The Profs won the first set, 25-19, and jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the second set en route to the 25-12 win. Rowan closed out the sweep with a 25-16 victory in the third set.
Despite losing the first set to Ursinus, 25-22, Rowan fought back to win the next three sets by scores of 25-20, 25-14 and 25-16 to pick up the victory.
Gallagher again led the way with 11 kills while
Lauren Horbacewicz (jr., Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) added 10. Mock and
Alaina Santacroce (so., Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) handed out 20 assists apiece for the Profs and Ogden registered 20 digs in the victory.
Rowan will close out the tournament on Saturday when it takes on Misericordia at 10 a.m. and faces Penn State Berks at 2 p.m. at Esby Gym.
