MONTCLAIR, NJ – The Rowan women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 overtime loss at conference opponent Montclair State University.
Back Samantha Senatore scored the game-winner at 97:07. The Red Hawks are 6-2-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Profs have a 4-4 record with a 1-1 conference mark.
In overtime, Montclair State edged Rowan in shots, 3-2. Midfielder
Caitlyn Cordell took the Profs' first one (92:01) which was stopped by goalkeeper Lindsay Freewalt. The Red Hawks answered with two attempts. Freewalt turned away a shot by forward
Daria Jones at 95:20.
Freewalt ended the game with seven saves. Rowan totaled 12 shots and seven were on goal. In the first half, midfielders
Dominique Marrone and
Bethany Sansone and forward/midfielders
Abby Daigle and
Jessica Beck each applied pressure with one shot on net.
Midfielder
Megan McKinley and Jones had one opportunity in the second period. Jones hit the post and McKinley's shot was saved by Freewalt. For the Profs, goalkeepers
Bristol Pizzuto and
Amanda Leber combined for three saves.
