GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's soccer team defeated William Paterson University, 3-1. It was the conference opener for both teams.
The Profs improve to 4-3 on the season while the Pioneers are 4-2-1 overall. This week, Rowan is ranked eighth in the United Soccer Coaches South Atlantic Region Poll.
Forward Marisa Adelman put William Paterson on the scoreboard first. She scored at 2:35 with a shot at the top of the box on a ball from forward Corinne Bowe. Forward
Aidan Sheehan tied the score (20:07) with a pass from
Daria Jones. Sheehan flicked the ball over the keeper. Back
Casey Lubonski gave Rowan a 2-1 advantage when she chested in a corner kick by midfielder
Bethany Sansone.
Jones added an insurance goal at 77:29. She blasted a shot into the right side of the net after going around a William Paterson defender. The Profs compiled 24 shots while the Pioneers only had four. Goalie
Bristol Pizzuto made two saves in the win. For William Paterson, goalkeeper Eric Hickey stopped 10 shots.
