Hobart Rallies to Down Football on Late Field Goal, 20-17

GENEVA, NY – Kyle Hackett kicked a 28-yard field goal as time expired to give Hobart a 20-17 win over Rowan (0-3) on Boswell Field at Urick Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The field goal capped a 17-point rally by Hobart (3-0) for the win.

With Rowan leading, 17-3, in the third quarter, Hobart QB Ryan Hofman led a pair of drives that ended in touchdown passes, tying the score, 17-17, on a 47-yard pass to Ryan Giacobbe at 4:37. On the Profs' next possession, Hobart's Jared Leake punched the ball out and Andrew Koonz recovered the loose ball with 1:38 left, leading to Hobart's winning drive.

Rowan grabbed the early lead taking advantage of an errant snap on a punt which gave the Profs possession at the Hobart seven. Three plays later, sophomore quarterback Mike Husni completed a 3-yard toss to senior Nick Grosso for a touchdown and a 10-0 lead.

The Rowan defense came up big in the third quarter when co-captain Anthony LaRosa intercepted a Hobart pass and returned it to the Statesman 39. The Profs scored on the next play as Elijah Rehm scored on a 39-yard reverse to give Rowan a 17-3 lead with 11:12 left in the quarter.
