Volleyball Wins Two of Three at Keuka Invitational

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KEUKA PARK, NY - The Rowan University women's volleyball team turned in a solid season-opening weekend by taking two of three matches at the Keuka College Invitational.

After a 3-1 win over Lasell on Friday, the Profs defeated the host team, 3-1, on Saturday morning. Rowan (2-1) then lost to Union College, 3-2, to round out the weekend.

"The girls showed grit and determination throughout the whole weekend. They enjoyed the games but played with intensity and a drive to win," said head coach Deana Jespersen. "It was a weekend where we grew as a team and got one step better."

The Profs went 25-20, 25-22 and 25-12 to earn the win over Keuka. Megan Jacobi (sr., Brick, NJ/Nazareth) posted a team-high 12 kills while Cassidy Abdalla (so., Eagleville, PA/Mt. St. Joseph Academy) added eight. Setter Tori Mock (jr., Chadds Ford, PA/Archmere Academy) registered 19 assists in the match while Alaina Santacroce (so., Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) set up 13.

The Profs lost a tough five-game match to Union College to end the tournament. Rowan fell in a 2-0 hole losing 25-23 and 25-21 in the opening games, but rallied to post victories in the next two, 25-18 and 25-19. Union then closed out the victory with a 16-14 win in the final game.

Jacobi again led the Profs with 14 kills, Natalie Ogden (so., Downingtown, PA/Bishop Shanahan) had 13 and Lauren Horbacewicz (jr., Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) and Kailey Gallagher (sr., Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) posted 11 kills apiece. Mock had 33 assists and Santacroce added 24 while Simone Sparano (fr., Phoenixville, PA/Pope John Paul II) had a team-high 32 digs.

Rowan will host the Profs Invitational on Friday and Saturday, September 6 and 7, opening play against Widener on Friday at 4 p.m.
