2019 Schedule
GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University football team announced its 2019 schedule on Wednesday.
The Profs host five games at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium and have five on the road. Seven of the 10 contests are New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) games. Rowan had to add two opponents to its schedule due to Frostburg State University moving to Division II and Southern Virginia University leaving the conference. In 2018, the football team went 6-4 overall and 5-4 in the NJAC.
"I'm excited to get the year started," head coach
Jay Accorsi said. "We returned a lot of talented players and had a great spring season. I'm interested to see where we will end up this year."
The Brown and Gold begins its season home against Widener University on Saturday, Sept. 7. Last year, the Profs won a double overtime thriller versus the Pride, 41-34. Rowan then hosts Linfield College on Saturday, Sept. 14. The football team's first road contest is at Hobart College on Saturday, Sept. 21.
"With the loss of two games to our schedule, we had to find two new opponents for the season," Accorsi stated. "Linfield is a top-25 team and Hobart has a great program. Both teams have proven to be tough competitors, but we are excited about the opportunity to play them."
Rowan starts NJAC competition as it heads to Wesley College on Saturday, Oct. 5. The Profs stunned the nationally ranked Wolverines, 28-27 on Homecoming last season. The football team returns to Glassboro to challenge Kean University on Saturday, Oct. 12, which is Homecoming. Rowan topped the Cougars, 35-20 in 2018.
The Brown and Gold then hits the road for two straight contests. The Profs take on Salisbury University on Saturday, Oct. 19, and William Paterson University on Saturday, Oct. 26. Rowan faces Montclair State University on Saturday, Nov. 2 at home.
The Profs travel to Christopher Newport University for its final road contest on Saturday, Nov. 9. The football team's last game of the regular season is home versus The College of New Jersey on Saturday, Nov. 16. Last season, the Profs edged the Lions, 17-14 in Ewing.
"This is going to be a challenging year for our program," Accorsi noted. "Our first three games will be tough, but if we get through them, I think we will have a chance to fight for a conference championship."
