NJAC Tournament Bracket
GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team won 13-9 against Montclair State University in the semifinals of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship Tournament on Wednesday night.
The Profs (11-6) are seeded second while the Red Hawks (10-8) are the third seed. In the other semifinal game, the top seed The College of New Jersey defeated the fourth seed Kean University, 18-4. TCNJ hosts Rowan in the conference championship on Saturday, May 4 at 1 p.m. The NJAC champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

Maddie Bray (sr. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) scored five goals while midfielder
Liz Kramer (sr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) totaled three goals and three assists. Midfielder
Taylor Gretz (sr. Woolwich Twp., NJ/Kingsway Reg.) contributed with three goals. Attacks
Ashley Lechliter (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) and
Elise Cohan (fr. Far Hills, NJ/Bernards) added one goal apiece.
Midfielder
Shannen Sterner (fr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) chipped in with two assists and attack
Mikala Gillespie (sr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) had one. Goalie
Reilly Shaup (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) made six saves. Gretz collected six ground balls and five draw controls.
Attack Chelsea Orban (sr. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris) compiled four goals for Montclair State.
Midfielders Brittany Costigan (so. Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) and Sydnee Sapp (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) tallied two goals apiece. Costigan tallied seven draw controls.
Attack Megan Mahlstadt (jr. New Providence, NJ/New Providence) had one goal and one assist. Attacks Casey Provost (sr. Allentown, NJ/Allentown) and Kyle Graver (jr. Boyertown, PA/Boyertown) and defender Leanne McCloskey (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) each assisted on one goal. Goalies Amanda Maguire (jr. Verona, NJ/Verona) and Allyn Lillien (so. Washington Twp., NJ/Westwood) stopped six and seven shots respectively.
Rowan jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals by Kramer (26:25) and Bray (22:22). Montclair State followed with three straight for a 3-2 advantage with 12:32 remaining. Sapp, Oban and Mahlstadt each scored one time. Cohan tied the score with a free position shot at 7:46. Sapp registered her second goal at 3:19. The Profs answered with goals by Lechliter (2:38), Kramer (2:06), Bray (1:35) and Gretz (0:47), which made the score 7-4. Orban had a free position goal (0:24) to end the half.
Gretz hit the net at 27:37 in the second period. Orban cut the deficit to two (8-6) with a free position shot (21:48). The Profs were ahead 10-6 after goals by Gretz (15:27) and Bray (13:09). Costigan kept the Red Hawks in the game with a goal (10:07) that was assisted by Graver. Bray produced a goal with 6:32 remaining. Orban followed with a score (4:58) to trail 11-8. Kramer and Bray each added one more tally to lead 13-8. Costigan ended the scoring with 12 seconds on the clock.
