GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University baseball team shut out New Jersey City University, 13-0 for the second time of the season on Sunday.
The Profs win their seventh straight contest and have a 17-5 record and they are 5-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Gothic Knights are 11-8 overall with a 2-5 conference mark.
Left-hander
Drew Ryback (jr. Mantua, NJ/Clearview Reg.) tossed a complete game on the mound. He (4-0) struck out 10 batters and allowed five hits. Second baseman
Alex Kokos (jr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) and shortstop
Dillon Mendel (sr. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) totaled three hits apiece. Mendel had four runs batted in (RBI) and a home run. Kokos chipped in with two doubles and two runs.
For New Jersey City, right fielder Juan Pena (jr. Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy) contributed two hits and a double. Righty Paul Tannucilli (fr. Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) suffered the loss, giving up 10 hits, six runs and five earned.
The Brown and Gold started strong in the opening inning when Mendel blasted a two-run homer to left center. The bats stayed hot in the second as catcher
Steven Hewa (sr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) slammed a solo home run down the left field line to lead, 3-0.
Rowan's offense continued to roll as it added one run in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth to extend its advantage to 7-0. The Profs plated a runner in the seventh when Mendel sent a single to center field and center fielder
Matt Woods (sr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) came home.
The Brown and Gold put the contest out of reach as it poured on five runs in the eighth to lead, 13-0. Right fielder

Victor Cruz (so. Westfield, NJ/Westfield). Right fielder
Jason Bobiak (fr. Westville, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) drove in two runs with a single to right center. Designated hitter
Anthony Harrold (sr. Woodbury, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) knocked in the final two scores with a single up the middle.
