Baseball Shuts Out Neumann, 2-0

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University baseball team shut out Neuman University, 2-0 on Wednesday.
 
The Profs have a 9-4 record. Right-hander Justin Smith (sr. Atco, NJ/Hammonton) pitched a complete game in the win (1-1), allowing only four hits and striking out 11 batters. First baseman Mitch Walker (jr. Pennsville, NJ/Pennsville Mem.) led the way with two hits. Designated hitter Anthony Harrold (sr. Woodbury, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and left fielder Dan Shane (sr. Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) each contributed a double and one run. Shortstop Nick Schooley (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) registered one hit and a RBI, while right fielder Eric Schorr (jr. Audubon, NJ/Audubon) added a RBI. 
 
For the Knights (8-10), right fielder John Schoelkopf (sr. Washington Twp., NJ/Washington Twp.) produced two hits, including a double. Shortstop John Lindeborn (sr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester) and pinch hitter Donnie Weaver (fr. Newark, DE/Hodgson Vo. Tech.) chipped in one hit apiece. Righty Will Hart (fr. Middletown, DE/Hodgson Vo. Tech.) suffered the loss (0-2), giving up eight hits and two runs, one earned. 
 
The game was scoreless over the first three innings. Rowan got on the board in the fourth. Harrold opened with a double, followed by a single from Walker. Both runners advanced to third and second on a passed ball. Schorr knocked in Harrold on the next at-bat with a ground out.
 
The Brown and Gold doubled up in the fifth when Schooley hit a RBI single to left field and plated Shane. 
 
Neumann put the pressure on in the sixth on a two-out rally. Schoelkopf blasted a double down the right field line and advanced to third on a Lindeborne single. The Profs got out of the inning on a fly out to center during the next batter. 
 
Smith dominated the final three frames, striking out six of the nine batters, including three straight in the last inning. 
 
Rowan faces Immaculata University at home on Thursday, March 28 at 4 p.m. The game was previously scheduled at Immaculata.
