KISSIMMEE, FL – The Rowan University softball team shut out Linfield College, 2-0 and Mount Saint Mary College, 8-0 in five innings on Sunday at the Spring Games.
Right-hander
Lauren Shannon (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) had the win on the moundagainst Linfield. She (4-0) allowed four hits in her third shutout on the season. Pitcher Shelby Saylors (sr. Rainier, OR/Rainier) suffered the loss.
For the Profs, designated player
Kelly Duffy (so. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) contributed with one hit and one RBI. First baseman
Mackenzie Short (jr. Denton, MD/North Caroline) chipped in with one RBI. Left fielder
Morgan Zane (fr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) had a double. Right fielder
Jesse DeDomenico (jr. East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) and pinch runner
Shea Branda (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) each scored one run.
After four scoreless innings, Rowan scored one run in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth Guarino led off with a single up the middle and was replaced at first by Branda. Zane hit a double to left field and Branda advanced to third. Short grounded out, scoring Branda. Duffy drove in DeDomenico with a single through the left side in the sixth.
DeDomenico threw four innings for the victory versus Mount Saint Mary. She (2-4) did not allow a hit and struck out eight batters. Duffy pitched the final inning and scattered two hits. Mackenzie Hymes (fr. Middletown, DE/Middletown) was the losing pitcher.
Rowan improves to 6-4 on the season. Duffy was one for three at the plate with a double, two RBIs and one run. Shortstop

Kristina Mueller (sr. Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) scored one run
Zane crossed the plate in the second inning on a ground out by Sharma. The Profs had a 7-0 lead after six runs in the third. Mueller scored on Anderson's single up the middle. Duffy plated two runs with a double. Zane's triple down the right field line brought Duffy home. Guarino followed with a RBI double to right center and Short had a base hit with a RBI. In the fourth, Anderson crossed the plate on Gerard's single.
