GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men's swimming and diving team defeated conference opponent Montclair State University, 163-69.
Rowan won both relays and took first place in 11 individual events. The 200 medley relay of
Alex Sukach,
Matt Grubb,
Kyle Printon and
Matt Maretic had a time of 1:37.24.
Jake Kayati,
Greg Cann,
Matt DeGennaro and Maretic were on the free relay (3:16.55).
Chad Shire was the winner in the one-meter (six dives) and one-meter (11 dives) with 320.20 and 519.38 points respectively. He qualified for the NCAA Regional.
Matt Hoy finished second in the one-meter (six dives) (233.40) and one-meter (11 dives) (389.55).
Garrett Kerr was third in the one-meter (six dives) with 194.33 points. He was also third (331.88) in the one-meter (11 dives).
Rowan improves to 1-1 on the season and Montclair State is 0-4 overall. It was the first conference meet for both teams.
Kevin Yanagisawa captured first place in the 1650 freestyle (16:52.31) and 200 butterfly (1:55.87). Kayati was the winner in the 50 free with a time of 21.94 and
Tyler McDonald had a first place (47.86) in the 100 freestyle.
Kevin Gillooly touched first (1:47.94) in the 200 freestyle and
Joe Rucci was the winner (4:56.23) in the 500 freestyle. Grubb swam a winning time of 2:14.44 in the 200 breaststroke.
Matt Smits won (2:02.41) the 200 backstroke and was second (16:58.07) in the 1650 freestyle.
Rucci took first place (4:12.01) in the 400 yard individual medley followed by
Tanner Debus, second (4:22.52) and Sukach, third (4:25.96).
Dylan Regan had a second place (1:51.01) in the 200 free.
Dominick Sheppard finished third (22.23) in the 50 free.
Next, Rowan travels to William Paterson University on Saturday, Nov. 9 for a 1p.m. conference meet.
