AMHERST, MA- Top-ranked Amherst scored two goals in the second half to end Rowan's NCAA run, 2-0, in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship at Hitchcock Field. The Profs close their season with a 12-6-4 record while making their furthest advancement in the NCAA Championship since 2001.

The loss, Rowan's first of the season to a ranked team, ends the careers of a stellar senior class –
Ryan Logar,
Kevin Primich,
Modou Sowe,
Nick Schlageter and
Collin Cardona. Over the last four years, the Profs have gone 58-20-6 while making three appearances in the NCAA Championship and playing in the NJAC Final three times.

Scott Baker. "The seniors are an amazing group – their character as people and their leadership as players is irreplaceable. They will be missed but will be remembered for many amazing memories."

The teams battled through a scoreless first half but Amherst scored just one minute into the second as Ada Okorogheye tallied an unassisted goal at 46:14.

Dane Lind added to the Mammoths' lead just 15 minutes later when he scored an unassisted goal at 60:22.

Amherst held a 15-11 edge in shots and Rowan's
James Weinberg made nine saves on the day while Bernie White had four stops to post the shutout for Amherst.

The Profs played without leading scorer
Jay Vandermark as he sat out after accumulating two yellow cards in the NCAA First and Second Rounds last weekend.

Amherst (17-1-2) moves on to face the winner of the RPI-Messiah matchup in the Elite Eight.
