SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna pulled away in the final minutes to edge the Rowan men's basketball team, 96-92, in the championship game of the Susquehanna Trailways Tip-Off Classic.
Jerry Price had a team-high 22 points for Rowan (2-1), on 7-for-12 shooting, while
Austin Kearney had 18 points and
Maliq Sanders added 17. Price and Sanders were the Profs' representatives on the All-Tournament Team.
The game was tight throughout until the River Hawks started to hit some key baskets in the final three minutes. With SU leading, 88-87, Dominic Dunn knocked down a three-pointer and Danny Frauenheim converted a pair of free throws to increase the lead to 93-87. Rowan's
Austin Kearney connected on a three-pointer to pull the Profs within 93-90, but the host team sealed the game with free throws, including a pair from Lukas Yurasits with :02 left.
In the first half, the lead changed hands 14 times but the Profs took a 45-41 edge at halftime.
Yurasits had a game-high 39 points for Susquehanna (3-1).
Rowan gets a lengthy break and returns to action at home on November 26 when it hosts Rutgers-Camden in the NJAC opener.
