Men's Soccer Defeats TCNJ, 2-1, on "Senior Night"

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan men's soccer team used first-half goals by Modou Sowe and Matt Hendrickson to earn a 2-1 win over TCNJ on "Senior Night" in the regular-season finale at Rowan Soccer Stadium.

The Profs (9-4-3; 5-3-1), ranked eighth in the latest NCAA South Atlantic Region rankings, await the conclusion of league play and the announcement of the NJAC Championship Tournament bracket.

Sowe gave the Profs the 1-0 lead at 24:43 when Michael Ferrara carried the ball into the box and dropped it back to the senior, who scored from six yards out.

The Profs added another right before halftime as TCNJ goalkeeper Daniel Mecadon's attempted clear of a loose ball deflected to junior Matt Hendrickson and he scored from close range at 42:31 for his sixth goal of the year.

TCNJ (10-4-4; 2-3-4) got on the board early in the second half when Ryan Vazquez sent a long cross to Ethan Mueller who headed it into the lower right corner at 50:57.

Vazquez had another great scoring chance at point blank range with just over two minutes to play, but Rowan keeper James Weinberg made the stop and finished the match with five saves.

Rowan had 19 shots in the match, and forced Meadon to make 10 saves, while TCNJ totaled 15 shots.

The Profs' senior class was honored at halftime in their final regular-season game. The class of Nick Schlageter, Modou Sowe, Collin Cardona, Kevin Primich and Ryan Logar built the foundation for a successful four years in the program's history. During their time, Rowan has compiled a 54-18-5 record, reached the NJAC Final twice and made two appearances in the NCAA Championship Tournament in 2016 and 2017. The 2016 Profs also achieved the nation's number-one ranking by D3Soccer.com and were the highest scoring squad in the nation, in all divisions.

NJAC first-round action begins on Saturday, November 2, with the semifinals on November 6 and the finals on November 9. All matches will be played at campus sites of the higher-seeded teams.
