GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men's swimming & diving team defeated The College of New Jersey, 167-133 and captured the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) title on Saturday.
 
It is the Profs' third straight NJAC Championship and 16thoverall.  Rowan is 6-3 on the season and 4-0 in the conference.
 
The Profs won the 200 medley relay in 1:33.03 with Dan Lawton (sr. Yardley, PA/Pennsbury), Matt Grubb (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.), Jake Kayati (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Woodstown) and Kevin Gillooly (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.).  The 400 freestyle relay came in second with a time of 3:10.80.  Kyle Printon (so. Somerset, NJ/Bishop George Ahr), Gillooly, Kayati and Nate Wojtowicz (sr. Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's County) were on the free relay.   
 
Gillooly touched first in the 100 backstroke (51.48) and 100 freestyle (45.71).  Kevin Yanagisawa (fr. Woodbridge, CT/Amity Reg.) won the 500 freestyle in 4:47.89.  He was also second in the 1650 freestyle (9:54.70) and 200 butterfly (1:55.25).  Dylan Regan (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) was the winner (21.82) in the 50 free.
 
Grubb claimed first place (57.25) in the 100 breaststroke while Greg Cann (fr. Woodbury Heights, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and Mark Mesco (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Homeschooled) were second (1:00.73) and third (1:01.36) respectively.  They also finished first (2:11.17), second (2:14.87) and third (2:16.06) in the 200 breaststroke.   
 
Chad Shire (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) had first places in the one-meter and three-meter diving with 300.60 and 318 points respectively. Matt Hoy (fr. Mountainside, NJ/Governor Livingston) and Christian Termine (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) were third (256.58) and fourth (232.58) in the one-meter diving.  Hoy also had a third place (194.33) in the three-meter diving and Termine was fourth (184.58).  
 
Printon took second (1:44.49) in the 200 freestyle and he was third (47.87) in the 100 free.  Lawton finished the 200 backstroke in 1:55.03 for second place.  Kayati had a second place (51.95) in the 100 butterfly.   
 
Matt Maretic (fr. Closter, NJ/Northern Valley Reg. at Demarest) was third (1:47.43) in the 200 free.  In the 200 individual medley, Matt Schillaci (jr. Sicklerville, NJ/Glassboro) came in second (2:01.11) followed by Maretic, third (2:03.30) and Tanner Debus (fr. Fort Mill, SC/Nation Ford), fourth (2:03.53).  Matt Smits (so. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) had third places in the 1000 (10:05.25) and 500 (4:54.74) freestyles.  
 
Next week, Rowan travels to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday, Feb. 2 for a 1 p.m. meet.
