NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ – The Rowan University men's swim team competed at a tri-meet with Stevens Institute of Technology, Swarthmore College and Johns Hopkins University on Saturday at the Berkeley Aquatic Club.
The Profs defeated Stevens, 149-113. Swarthmore had a 137-125 victory and Johns Hopkins won 180-82. Rowan has a 5-3 record.
The men took first place (1:10.56) in the 200 freestyle relay and second (1:33.0) in the 200 medley relay. The free relay consisted of
Dylan Regan (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.),
Jake Kayati (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Woodstown),
Kyle Printon (so. Somerset, NJ/Bishop George Ahr) and
Kevin Gillooly (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.).
Dan Lawton (sr. Yardley, PA/Pennsbury),
Matt Grubb (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.), Kayati and Gillooly were on the medley relay.
Gillooly was the winner (21.17) in the 50 free and he was second (46.74) in the 100 freestyle.
Kevin Yanagisawa (fr. Woodbridge, CT/Amity Reg.) came in third (16:34.84) in the 1650 freestyle. He finished fourth (1:57.13) in the 200 butterfly and sixth (4:50.69) in the 500 freestyle. Lawton took fourth (54.04) in the 100 backstroke and sixth (1:58.27) in the 200 backstroke
Regan finished fourth (21.82) in the 50 free. Grubb was fourth in the 100 (57.92) and 200 (2:11.51) breaststrokes. Kayati came in fourth (52.15) in the 100 butterfly and fifth (1:58.20) in the 200 butterfly.
Matt Smits (so. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) had a fifth place (16:46.88) in the 1650 freestyle.
Printon finished sixth (1:45.37) in the 200 freestyle and seventh (47.67) in the 100 free.
Cam Sexauer (sr. Pittsburgh, PA/Mount Lebanon) took eighth (17:37.91) in the 1650 freestyle.
Greg Cann (fr. Woodbury Heights, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) had an eighth place (2:16.11) in the 200 breaststroke. In the 200 individual medley, Matt Maretic (fr. Closter, NJ/Northern Valley Reg. at Demarest) and
Tanner Debus (fr. Fort Mill, SC/Nation Ford) were eighth (2:03.90) and ninth (2:04.83) respectively.
Next week, Rowan hosts The College of New Jersey on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. in the final home meet of the regular season. One session of the diving will be held at 11 a.m.
