GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team scored five unanswered goals for a 5-1 victory over Eastern University on Wednesday night.
Forward
Bridget Boyle (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) scored twice while forwards
Rachel Galante (sr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Collingswood), Kystyna Hovell (fr. Gibbsboro, NJ/Eastern Reg.) and
Bridget Guinan (fr. Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) each had one goal.
Midfielders
Molly Gorczyca (so. Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) and
Kristiina Castagnola (fr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.), forward
Jenni Panzarino (sr. New Providence, NJ/Old Bridge) and back
Julie Johnson (sr. Mount Ephraim, NJ/Audubon) each contributed with an assist.
Forward Alison Hoag (sr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) scored for the Eagles and forward Becky Howard (jr. Delran, NJ/Delran) had the assist. Rowan (2-0) compiled 14 shots while Eastern (1-2) took five. Profs' goalie
Morgan Novak (jr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) made three saves. For the Eagles, goalie Marley Redfield (fr. Oaklyn, NJ/Audubon) stopped five shots.
Hoag put Eastern on the scoreboard first at 6:39 with a pass from Howard. Boyle tied the score (9:17) when she chipped in a cross from Gorczyca. Galante had an unassisted goal at 16:41 with a shot from 10-yards out. Hovell tipped in Johnson's shot (28:40) to end the half with a 3-1 lead.
Boyle's second goal came at 54:54 when she knocked in a cross by Castagnola. Guinan was in front the cage and she scored (58:31) after a pass from Panzarino.
Next, Rowan travels to Catholic University on Saturday, Sept. 15 for a 1 p.m. game
