Women's Soccer Defeats William Paterson, 5-2 In First Conference Game

WAYNE, NJ – The Rowan University women's soccer team defeated William Paterson University, 5-2 on Saturday in its first conference game.
 
The Profs have a 5-1 record while the Pioneers drop to 1-5 overall. Forward Daria Jones (jr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) led the way with three goals and one assist.  Midfielder Darah Wagner (jr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) contributed with two goals.  Back Kelsi Stangl (so. Park Ridge, NJ/Park Ridge) and midfielder Sarah Rosenberg (sr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) each chipped in with an assist.  
 
For William Paterson, forward Marisa Adelman (jr. Branchburg, NJ/Somerville) produced one goal and one assist.  Forward Nicole Cassano (fr. Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bride) hit the net one time. 
Pioneer goalkeeper Erica Hickey (so. Port Jefferson, NY/Comsewogue) made five saves.
 
Rowan was ahead 3-0 after the first half.  The Profs scored the three goals in less than 16 minutes.  Jones registered the first two markers at 9:23 and 13:12 unassisted.  Wagner tapped in Jones' pass for the third (15:19).
 
Jones' third score came in the second period (48:32).  She knocked in a through ball from Stangl.  William Paterson got on the scoreboard at 54:30. Cassano booted in a chip from Adelman. Wagner made the score 5-1 (54:49) when she connected with Rosenberg.  Adelman ended the scoring (86:27) with an unassisted goal.
 
Next, Rowan hosts Arcadia University on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 5 p.m.
