Box Score 2 GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University softball team won two games against Neumann University, 4-2 and 8-0 in six innings on Wednesday.
Lauren Shannon (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) was the winning pitcher for both games. She threw 1.1 relief innings in the opener, allowed one hit and struck out three batters. Shannon (9-1) had a complete game in the second contest. She gave up five hits in her third shutout of the season.
The Profs, ranked 21
st, are 23-6-1 overall. The Knights have a 14-11 record.
In the first contest, catcher
Nicole Paiotti (sr. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) recorded a three-run homer, which put Rowan ahead 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Right fielder
Morgan Smith (sr. Millsboro, DE/Sussex Central) led off with a double to right center. Third baseman
Cassandra Gerard (jr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) reached on an error. Smith and Gerard advanced a base on a wild pitch. With two outs, Paiotti sent a shot over the left field fence for her second home run on the season.
Neumann scored two runs in the top of the sixth to lead 2-1. Third baseman Rachel Albertson (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) started with a single and went to second on a wild pitch. She moved to third on a ground out. First baseman Jackie Schneider (jr. Holland, PA/Council Rock S.) had a base hit to center field, scoring Albertson. Catcher Kate Korte(so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) knocked in Schneider with a double to right center.
The Profs got on the scoreboard first in the fourth inning. Gerard led off with a walk then advanced to second on a wild pitch. She was on third after a ground out and crossed home plate on second baseman

In the nightcap, shortstop
Carly Anderson (jr. Nutley, NJ/Nutley) was three-for-three with two RBIs, a double and two runs scored. Left fielder
Jesse DeDomenico (so. East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown), catcher
Christina Guarino (fr. West Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell), Gerard and Paiotti all contributed with one RBI.
Rowan scored five runs in the fourth inning. Paiotti produced a sacrifice fly that scored pinch runner
Gianna Decker (jr. Southampton, NJ/Seneca). Anderson drove in two runs with a single. Sharma and pinch runner
Madison Petroski (fr. Sicklerville, NJ/Timber Creek Reg.) both came home. Center fielder
Kristina Mueller (jr. Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) touched the plate on a base hit by DeDomenico then Anderson scored on a ground out.
The Profs ended the game early with three runs in the sixth because of the eight-run rule. Smith, Gerard and Guarino all had back-to-back RBI singles.
For the Knights, shortstop Kristina Del Gaiso (so. Turnersville, NJ/Washington Twp.) and right fielder Jackie Shelby (so. Verona, NJ/Verona) each posted two hits. Korte contributed with a double.
