Lauren Shannon pitched a perfect game.
The Profs are 21-6-1 overall and 7-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Scarlet Raptors are 9-14 on the season with a 2-8 conference mark.
Shannon (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) faced 15 batters and had 10 strikeouts. It was her first collegiate no-hitter and her second shutout this year. Shannon has a 7-1 record. Rowan honored seniors
Morgan Smith (sr. Millsboro, DE/Sussex Central) and
Nicole Paiotti (sr. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) after the doubleheader.
In the second contest, third baseman
Cassandra Gerard (jr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) contributed with two hits (three at bats), two RBIs and one run. Left fielder
Jesse DeDomenico (so. East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) chipped in with two hits, one RBI and two runs. Shortstop
Carly Anderson (jr. Nutley, NJ/Nutley) added two RBIs and scored one run. Designated player
KadyMae Makos (fr. Millville, NJ/Millville) had one RBI. First baseman
Mackenzie Short (so. Denton, MD/North Caroline) and center fielder
Kristina Mueller (jr. Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) each registered one hit and one run.
DeDomenico was the winning pitcher in the opener. She (12-3) scattered six hits and gave up two runs, one earned. DeDomenico struck out six batters. At the plate, she had one hit in three at bats and scored one run.
Second baseman
Sonia Sharma (fr. Mahwah, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) produced a triple and three RBIs. Paiotti and Makos each registered one hit, one RBI and one run. Pinch runner
Madison Petroski (fr. Sicklerville, NJ/Timber Creek Reg.) and Gerard scored one run apiece.
For Rutgers-Camden, left fielder Kacie Pisani (jr. Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights) was two-for- three with one RBI. Pitcher Kendra Pfister (jr. Dacula, GA/Dacula) had two hits in two at bats. Shortstop Nina Arroyo (fr. Delran, NJ/Delran) registered one hit and one RBI. Third baseman Gabby Pfeiffer (sr. Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) and right fielder Lauren Glaze (so. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) each crossed the plate one time.
The Scarlet Raptors got on the scoreboard in the third inning with a RBI single by Arroyo that brought home Glaze. The Profs took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Paiotti knocked in Gerard with a base hit. Makos drove in Paiotti with a double to center field. In the top of the sixth, Pfeiffer came home on Pisani's single to center field. Sharma blasted a three RBI triple to right center in the bottom half to go ahead 5-2. DeDomenico, Petroski and Makos all came home.
Rowan is home again on Wednesday, April 18 against Neumann University at 3 p.m.
