Box Score 2 GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University softball team won the first game, 3-0 against Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The nightcap ended in a 6-6 tie after seven innings and was called on account of darkness.
Right-hander
Jesse DeDomenico (so. East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) recorded the shutout for her ninth win on the season. She (9-1) only allowed one hit and had five strikeouts. Ravenne Nasser (jr. Methuen, MA/Phillips Academy – Andover) had the loss on the mound. She gave up seven hits and three runs.
DeDomenico also contributed with two hits (two at bats), one RBI and one run. Right fielder
Morgan Smith (sr. Millsboro, DE/Sussex Central) produced two hits, one double and one RBI. Shortstop
Carly Anderson (jr. Nutley, NJ/Nutley) chipped in with one hit and one run. Second baseman
Sonia Sharma (fr. Mahwah, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) added one hit and one run while pinch hitter
KadyMae Makos (fr. Millville, NJ/Millville) had a RBI.
DeDomenico drove in Anderson in the first inning with a single to center field. The Profs scored two runs in the fourth. Makos was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and DeDomenico came home. Smith's base hit to center field scored Sharma.
Anderson led Rowan in the second game with three doubles (five at bats) and two runs. She tied the school record for doubles in a game. DeDomenico totaled two hits and one RBI. Smith had one hit, one RBI and one run. Third baseman
Cassandra Gerard (jr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) collected two RBIs, a double and one run. Center fielder
Kristina Mueller (jr. Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) was two for three at the plate and scored one run.
For the Engineers, left fielder Sierra Rosenzweig (so. Anchorage, AK/East Anchorage) recorded two hits (three at bats), three RBIs and one run. Third baseman Devon Goetz (so. Rockville, MD/Richard Montgomery) and designated player Sarah Von Ahn (so. West Linn, OR/West Linn) each registered two hits.
MIT scored twice in the sixth inning and trailed 6-5. Rosenzweig drove in the two runs with a double to right center field. With one out in the seventh, second baseman Amanda Lee (sr. Saratoga, CA/Saratoga) tripled to right field. She scored the tying run when Von Ahn stole second.
