Softball Wins Against Salve Regina, 3-0 and McDaniel, 8-4

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, FL – The Rowan University softball team won two contests at the Sunkissed Games on Wednesday.  The Profs defeated Salve Regina University, 3-0 and McDaniel College, 8-4.
 
Right-hander Jesse DeDomenico (so. East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) recorded her second shutout on the season against Salve Regina.  She (6-1) struck out 12 batters and only gave up four hits.
Julia Coute (fr. North Dighton, MA/Dighton-Rehoboth) was the losing pitcher. 
 
Shortstop Carly Anderson (jr. Nutley, NJ/Nutley) totaled three hits in four at bats, a double and three RBIs.  Second baseman Sonia Sharma (fr. Mahwah, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) contributed with two hits (three at bats) and two runs.  Left fielder Rebecca Lombardo (fr. New Egypt, NJ/Egypt) had two hits in two trips to the plate and scored one run.  Third baseman Cassandra Gerard (jr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) had a double.
 
The Profs scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.  Sharma led off with a single to left field.  Lombardo followed with a base hit up the middle.  With one out, Anderson hit a double to right center, scoring Sharma and Lombardo.  Anderson drove in Sharma with a single up the middle in the sixth.  Sharma had reached base with a hit.    
 
Rowan took the lead 8-4 with four runs in the top of the seventh inning versus McDaniel.  Gerard led off with a double and was replaced by pinch runner Gianna Decker (jr. Southampton, NJ/Seneca).  DeDomenico singled home Decker.  Pinch hitter Kelly Duffy (fr. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) knocked in Sharma and DeDomenico with a double to center field.  Centerfielder Kristina Mueller (jr. Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) scored on a bunt single by Anderson.
 
Sharma ended the game with three RBIs, a homer and two runs.  Mueller had two hits in three at bats and two runs.  Gerard added two hits and one run.
 
DeDomenico was the winning pitcher in relief.  In 6.2 innings, she (7-1) only allowed two hits and had nine strikeouts.  Righty Fiona Johnson (jr. Derwood, MD/Magruder) had the loss on the mound.
 
For the Green Terror, shortstop Haley Michael (so. Oldsmar, FL/East Lake) totaled two RBIs.  Left fielder Tori Wilkins (jr. Lutz, FL/Lank O'Lakes) produced one hit, one RBI and one run.  Second baseman Maryanna Lynch (sr. Newark, DE/Archmere Academy) added one RBI and scored one run.  Center fielder Morgan Scardina (sr. Pasadena, MD/Seton Keough) hit a double and had one run.
 
McDaniel had a 4-0 advantage after the first inning.  Wilkins singled to right field and Scardina scored.  Lynch walked with the bases loaded and Wilkins crossed the plate.  Michael plated two runs with a base hit up the middle. 
 
The Profs tied the score in the fourth.  Sharma slammed a three-run homer down the left field line.  Mueller came home on an error for the tying run and Anderson was at bat. 
 
Rowan (11-3) ends its trip to Florida with games against SUNY Plattsburgh on Friday, March 16 at 9 a.m. and Utica College at 11:15 a.m.
