Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, FL – The Rowan University softball team defeated Ithaca College, 6-1 and St. Norbert College, 9-0 in five innings at the Sunkissed Games on Tuesday.
Right-hander
Jesse DeDomenico (so. East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) pitched a complete game for the win over Ithaca. She (5-1) allowed four hits and one earned run. DeDomenico struck out six batters. Pitcher Shannon Grage had the loss (0-1).
Shortstop
Carly Anderson (jr. Nutley, NJ/Nutley) contributed with two hits (three at bats), a double, two RBIs and one run. Designated player
Nicole Paiotti (sr. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) recorded a solo home run. Center fielder
Kristina Mueller (jr. Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) chipped in with one hit, one RBI and one run. Second baseman
Sonia Sharma (fr. Mahwah, NJ/Immaculata Heart Academy) had a double and scored one run. Left fielder
Rebecca Lombardo (fr. New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) crossed the plate one time.
Catcher Rebecca DiSerio scored Ithaca's run and she had one hit in three at bats. Left fielder Allie Colleran produced a RBI.
The Profs led 5-0 after the second inning. Mueller drove in DeDomenico with a single down the left field line for the first run. Anderson doubled, scoring Sharma and Lombardo. Mueller and Anderson both came home on an error with right fielder
Morgan Smith (sr. Millsboro, DE/Sussex Central) at bat. The Bombers' run came in the third. Colleran reached base on a fielder's choice and DiSerio touched home plate. Paiotti led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo shot to left center.
Right-handers
Lauren Shannon (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) and
Nina Rizzo (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) combined for the shutout on the mound versus St. Norbert. Shannon (3-1) threw three innings and Rizzo went two. Both pitchers only gave up one hit.
Designated player
Christina Guarino (fr. West Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) totaled two hits (three at bats), three RBIs and two runs. First baseman
Mackenzie Short (so. Denton, MD/North Caroline) and Lombardo chipped in with two RBIs apiece. Third baseman
Cassandra Gerard (jr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) and Anderson each produced two hits and two runs. Gerard also had one RBI. Sharma registered two hits in two at bats and one run.
Rowan scored four runs in the top of the first inning. Mueller came home on Smith's ground out. Guarino plated Anderson with a base hit and Short singled in two runs. The Profs tacked on five more runs in the second. Gerard singled and Anderson crossed the plate. Guarino recorded a two-RBI double and Lombardi collected two RBIs with a single.
