MONTCLAIR, NJ – The Rowan University men's swimming & diving team won 219-75 at Montclair State University on Saturday.
The Profs are 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The men took first place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:35.36 with
Dan Lawton (sr. Yardley, PA/Pennsbury),
Matt Grubb (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.),
Jake Kayati (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Woodstown) and
Kevin Gillooly (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.). The 400 freestyle relay swam 3:15.15 for first place. The free relay include
Kyle Printon (so. Somerset, NJ/Bishop George Ahr),
Nate Wojtowicz (sr. Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's County),
Dylan Regan (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) and Gillooly.
Gillooly touched first (53.22) in the 100 backstroke and he also won the 100 free (48.01). Kayati had first places in the 50 free (22.38) and 100 butterfly (53.93). Lawton was the winner (2:02.07) in the 200 backstroke and he came in second (54.10) in the 100 backstroke.
Cam Sexauer (sr. Pittsburgh, PA/Mount Lebanon) and
Steven Nguyen (so. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) were first (10:40.38) and second (10:41.86) respectively in the 1000 freestyle. Nguyen claimed first (2:06.63) in the 200 individual medley. The Profs took first through third in the 100 breaststroke. Grubb was the winner (58.69) followed by
Mark Mesco (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Homeschooled), second (1:03.08) and
Aaron Schiff (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.), third (1:03.31). In the 200 breaststroke, Grubb took first place in 2:17.94.
Chad Shire (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) won both of the one-meter diving events. He totaled 185.05 points with five voluntary dives and 301.27 points with six optional dives.
Christian Termine (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) produced 163.80 points with five voluntary dives and 222.08 with six optional dives. He took second place in both one-meter diving events.
Kevin Yangisawa (fr. Woodbridge, CT/Amity Reg.) came in first in the 200 butterfly (2:00.26) and the 500 freestyle (4:55.47). Printon had second places in the 200 butterfly (2:03.44) and 500 freestyle (5:00.31).
Dave Smits (sr. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) and Wojtowicz were second (55.75) and third (56.08) in the 100 butterfly. Matt Maretic (fr. Closter, NJ/Northern Valley Reg. at Demarest) finished second (1:48.27) in the 200 free and Wojtowicz was third (1:49.30). Maretic also took third (50.06) in the 100 freestyle.
Noah Shepard (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) came in second (2:21.14) in the 200 breaststroke. Regan was third (22.57) in the 50 free while Gregg Cann (fr. Woodbury Heights, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) finished third (2:08.07) in the 200 individual medley.
Next week, Rowan hosts conference opponent William Paterson University on Friday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m.
