Field Hockey Wins 9-1 At Kean

UNION, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team won 9-1 at Kean University in a conference game on Saturday.
 
The Profs are undefeated with a 12-0 record and they are 3-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.  This week, Rowan is ranked seventh in the nation.  The Cougars are 4-9 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
 
Forward Bridget Guinan (fr. Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) led the way with three goals while forward Rachel Galante (sr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Collingswood) and midfielder Kristiina Castagnola (fr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) each contributed with two.  Midfielder Molly Gorczyca (so. Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) and forward Jenni Panzarino (sr. New Providence, NJ/Old Bridge) both chipped in with one goal.
 
Midfielder Liz Fox (fr. Green Lane, PA/Upper Perkiomen) produced two assists.  Forward Krystyna Hovell (fr. Gibbsboro, NJ/Eastern Reg.) and back Bridget Boyle (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) added one assist apiece.  Forward Audrey Treanor (so. Poughquag, NY/Arlington) scored the Cougars' goal.
 
Rowan outshot Kean, 23-11.  Goalie Morgan Novak (jr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) totaled seven saves for the Profs. For the Cougars, goalies Megan Houser (so. Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) and Bailee Mullen (jr. Roebling, NJ/Florence Twp.) each stopped three shots.   
 
Treanor put Kean on the scoreboard at 2:07 with an unassisted goal. The Profs followed with nine straight. Castagnola's shot (4:36) deflected off a Cougar player into the cage for the first tally.  Guinan followed with two goals (6:07, 11:36).  Gorczyca knocked in a feed from Boyle on a penalty corner.  Guinan's last score ended the half.  She tapped in a cross (24:29) by Fox.
 
In the final period, Galante made the score 7-1 with two goals (51:05, 57:58).  She dribbled through the defenders and beat the Kean goalie for her first one.  Fox had the assist on Galante's second. Castagnola scored less than a minute later.  Panzarino hit the cage (69:01) on a pass from Hovell. 
 
Next, Rowan hosts Arcadia University on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
