Field Hockey Defeats Arcadia, 5-1

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team defeated Arcadia University, 5-1 on Wednesday night.  
 
The Profs are ranked fifth in the nation and they are undefeated with a 13-0 record.  The Knights are 10-3 overall.  
 
Forward Krystyna Hovell (fr. Gibbsboro, NJ/Eastern Reg.) paced Rowan with two goals.  Forwards Rachel Galante (sr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Collingswood) and Bridget Guinan (fr. Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) each contributed with one goal and one assist. Midfielder Molly Gorczyca (so. Hackettstown, N/Hackettstown) added one goal while back Julie Johnson (sr. Mount Ephraim, NJ/Audubon) chipped in with an assist. 
 
Forward/midfielder Carly Flickinger (fr. New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) scored Arcadia's goal and forward/midfielder Gabby Sedares (sr. Telford, PA/Souderton Area) had the assist.
 
For the Profs, goalie Morgan Novak (jr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) stopped eight shots.  Knights' goalie Ashton Evans (jr. Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York) made seven saves in 62 minutes.  Goalies Allison Nikolaus (fr. Mt. Joy, PA/Hempfield) and Catherine Bergmueller (fr. Millmont, PA/Mifflinburg Area) shared the final eight minutes.
 
Hovell started the scoring at 4:39 with a pass from Guinan. Flickinger tied the score (9:32) when she deflected a shot by Sedares into the cage.  Guinan tapped in a pass (17:22) from Galante.  Hovell knocked in a loose ball (20:12) and Rowan was ahead at the break 3-1.  It was her eighth goal on the season.  
 
Gorczyca had the fourth goal at 43:03 when she scored in front of the cage after a feed from Johnson.  Galante dribbled the ball into the circle and blasted a shot into the top right side of the net.  She is the Profs' top scorer with 21 goals and five assists for 47 points.
 
Next, Rowan hosts conference opponent Ramapo College on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
