NEW YORK, NY – The New York University men's swimming and diving team defeated Rowan University, 177-115 on Saturday.
The Violets are undefeated with a 2-0 record. The Profs are 0-1 on the season.
Kevin Gillooly (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) swam a winning time of 52.27 in the 100 backstroke. He took second in the 50 free (21.19) and 200 backstroke (1:55.15).
Chad Shire (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) won the one-meter diving with 296.78 points. He totaled 317.78 points on the three-meter board for second place.
The 200 medley relay came in second with a time of 1:34.93.
Dan Lawton (sr. Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) finished second (53.40) in the 100 backstroke and fourth (1:59.92) in the 200.
Matt Grubb (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) swam 58.23 in the 100 breaststroke and was second.
Kevin Yanagisawa (fr. Woodbridge, NJ/Amity Reg.) had third places in the 1000 (9:54.96) and 500 (4:53.26) freestyles. He also took fourth (1:59.54) in the 200 butterfly. Matt Maretic (fr. Closter, NJ/Northern Valley Reg. at Demarest) and
Nate Wojtowicz (sr. Centreville MD/Queen Anne's County) were fourth (1:48.90) and fifth (1:49.03) respectively in the 200 freestyle. Wojtowicz also had a fourth place (49.41) in the 100 free.
Mark Mesco (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Homeschooled) touched fourth (2:17.82) in the 200 breaststroke.
Next week, Rowan hosts Arcadia University on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.
